I'm Juli Waller. Monkeyshine by Grrraphics is an extension of Grrraphics, my graphic design and illustration business of thirty-plus years. During that time the analog me was happily creating paintings, art dolls and lifestyle products to sell at art shows and boutiques.
Artist Statement
I’m inspired by exploring everyday experiences and the ways we connect with the world around us. By portraying ordinary situations and objects in unexpected ways, my work creates moments of joy, surprise, and reflection. My artistic style combines mixed media techniques – blending acrylic paint, ink, vintage ephemera, coloured pencils and even bingo daubers. This playful and varied approach results in visually engaging pieces that encourage viewers to connect with the art in their own personal way.
While my artwork draws on my own life and viewpoint, it also reflects common human experiences. Through vibrant colours, patterns, and a touch of humour, I challenge viewers to reconsider familiar ideas and better understand the intricacies of our social environment.
Ultimately, my goal is to create art that not only brings happiness but also invites people to see the world in fresh and interesting ways. By mixing the familiar with the unexpected, I hope my work sparks curiosity and wonder, inspiring meaningful connections with each piece.
